Reach Homecoming

27/12/19

Reach wrestling make their debut in Tavistock featuring some of the South west’s biggest talents.

Well, when you’ve had your fill of turkey, sprouts, chocolate, booze and aunt Doris telling you that Christmases were better ‘in the old days’ ,why not get yourself down to Tavistock Town Hall on Friday 27th December for a night of fun, fighting and festive cheer?

Reach have certainly put on a card to have you reaching for the car keys and setting off for some post Christmas excitement with 5 matches being announced. Each match offering something different and each match offering something a little different style wise.

Dancing Daddy Bainsley v Blake Harrison. Blake Harrison is on a long losing streak in Reach at the moment, every way he turns loss and humiliation follows him. From being called a twat by the Reach army at every show he appears at to being unceremoniously thrown out of the building by a one legged Grayson Reeves at Thursday night Reach 2. Blake really needs to prove himself and get the win that has been eluding him for so long. It won’t be easy against fan favourite Dancing Daddy Bainsley though who will have the fans behind him and a decided power advantage. Can Blake speed keep him out of the clutches of Bainsley? Or will the Daddy dance Blake all around the ring before getting the win? Blake will try and use every trick in the book to swing the match his way so expect shenanigans if Blake is to win.

Experiment in Terror v Dani Luna & Gisele Shaw. After their loss in the 6 person tag match at Bodmin jail recently, Elijah and L.K.Mezinger turned on their partner Dani Luna and blamed her for the defeat. Luckily, when things turned nasty Dani stood up for herself and sent E.I.T packing. Now in a grudge match, Dani teams up with the fantastic Gisele Shaw to take on E.I.T in an interesting intergender tag match. I’m really looking forward to this match as in my opinion, Gisele & Dani are my two breakout womens wrestlers of 2019. After pinning Millie McKenzie during the last intergender tag match at December to remember Gisele will be full of confidence and hoping to build on that win by being on the winning team on the 27th. Also furthering more her claim to be number 1 contender for the women’s title currently held by Millie McKenzie.

P.J. Jones v Simon Miller. It’s a great opportunity for P.J to take on ‘Internet sensation’ Simon Miller in this hotly anticipated match. Simon hasn’t been wrestling long but he has come on such a long way since his early appearances in Defiant. Simon had a great match with Dan Magee recently in UPW and even though he lost he impressed the fans in attendance with both his strength and his speed. P.J has had a fantastic year wrestling wise if not necessarily results wise. He’s had fantastic matches in Reach against Niwa and Dick Riley and was part of the amazing 4 man match at December to remember. Every time P. J is in a match he never fails to deliver, match after match after match he impresses and pulls out move after awesome move. It could be argued ‘the peej’ is one of Reach wrestling mvp’s and with good reason, the guy just gets better and better.

Jason King v Country Big. In my opinion, Josh Knott is one of the most underrated wrestlers on the south west scene, the guy has been working hard, has been putting in great matches at the likes of UPW and Reach among others and has recently featured in Chaos wrestling taking on Wild Boar Mike Hitchman. He’s also one of the best heels on the scene, he can work the crowd like very few can. Contrast his heelish ways to that of firm fan favourite and fellow Exonian Jason King, Co owner of Reach. Jason is proud to tell everyone that he’s not been pinned or tapped out in Plymouth, although he did lose by count out to P.J a while ago at a previous Reach show. Jason will have to be on his toes in this match as josh is going from strength to strength after recently progressing to the tag team final with Big Grizzly a couple of weeks ago. Expect some comedy in this match as well because alongside both guys being great wrestlers, both guys have been known to inject humour into their matches, especially Jason. I can’t believe it’s the first time these two guys have fought each other one on one. Jason’s fantastic win over J.D.Knight recently will have him feeling confident, this match could go either way but seeing as it’s not in Jason’s fortress of Plymouth I think it could be josh’s night.

Eddie Ryan & Joey Seven v Iestyn Rees & Joel Redman. Well, what can you say about this match? What an opportunity for Reach academy champion to share the ring and show us his skills against 3 of the biggest names in the south west. Joey has had a fantastic year and deserves to be taking part in this main event match.Even though he’s a relative newcomer he’s impressed the Reach army with his wrestling this year, he looks like he has been wrestling a lot longer than he has been and that’s a high compliment from me. Eddie won the 4 man no1 contenders match at December to remember and beat Joel in a non title match at winter is coming so he will be keen to give Joel another beating in Tavistock. Joel on the other hand will be looking to stem the Ryan tide with a win. Iestyn Rees is an absolute beast who’s never happier than when he’s destroying his opponents, Eddie & Joey will have their work cut out for them in this match. I expect a lot of powerful offence but all 4 men are quick and agile for their size and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if this match is a late contender for Reach match of the year.

So, that’s the card for Homecoming, I can’t wait to get Christmas out of the way so we can get back to wrestling again. Hope to see lots of you in Tavistock on the 27th.

Stay safe, merry Christmas, Dave

  1. Well done Dave, that’s a pretty good preview. I know nothing about wrestling, and haven’t seen anything since the days of Kent Walton’s commentaries from Wolverhampton Town Hall, however i appreciate it’s going strong in a different form and I’m well aware you’re a huge fan.
Keep writing, it’s great therapy, and you made me laugh aloud here so you’ve done alright!
